David Austin Jr.
SleepWave Laboratories Founder and Music Pioneer

David Austin Jr. began his musical career when he was 6 years old with private training in piano, violin, and voice, and instruction in music composition, University of Idaho School of Music, 1990. Throughout his training his instinctive desire to create and embellish frequently left him with a repertoire largely of his own compositions. Feeling frustrated with the limitations of traditional instruments, he enhanced orchestral sounds with the latest playback technology to create the soothing, gentle sound and style for which he is now known.

""What we have effectively done is modify all the sounds from which music is normally composed, so that rather than being stimulating, it is truly soothing. In fact, most people do not perceive their own most lulling music to be stimulating but a close examination of the sounds employed reveal very stimulating effects - and so we have de-stimulated these effects, so to speak."

Work began on this particular project as early as 1992 from which he produced his first CD using acoustical instruments modulated with sample playback equipment. It was a collaborative effort with other musicians and the work that ensued formed the basis for the Legato Waveforming™ technique that produces his unusually soothing music.

It wasn't until nearly 10 years later that David collaborated with his father, Dr. David W Austin Ph.D., a respected clinical psychologist in private practice, to translate verbal progressive relaxation techniques into a musical format which has been unexpectedly successful in facilitating rest, relaxation and sleep in adults and children.

The synergy between father and son in this dynamic and creative relationship has resulted in a stress relieving solution that is revolutionary in its ability to soothe; enabling people everywhere from infants to adults experience the healing effects of natural deep sleep, without experiencing the immediate or long-term side effects caused by chemically induced sleep.
